Congress must stop Trump’s attack on sacred public lands
Donald Trump just launched another massive attack on Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante — stripping protections from millions of acres of sacred public land.
With the stroke of a pen, Trump put sacred Indigenous lands, fragile ecosystems, ancient fossils, wildlife habitat, and irreplaceable public landscapes at risk. This is a blatant giveaway to mining, drilling, and extraction interests – and we need to fight back.
Tell Congress: Restore full protections for Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante now.
Bears Ears exists because tribal nations fought for generations to protect sacred and ancestral lands. These lands hold history, ceremony, memory, and identity — and they should not be treated like bargaining chips for fossil fuel and mining companies.
Grand Staircase-Escalante protects canyons, cliffs, fossils, wildlife, and wild places that can never be replaced once they are destroyed.
Trump is trying to erase all of that. And if Congress stays silent, he’ll get away with it.
Congress must restore the original monument boundaries, block drilling and mining on lands Trump stripped from protection, protect tribal stewardship, and make clear that no president can dismantle protected public lands without congressional approval.
