Don’t Let Trump Open National Monuments to Mining

Trump just slashed Bears Ears and Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monuments by 3 million acres – opening the door for mining, drilling, and  fossil fuel companies to rip up our public lands. 

These monuments in southern Utah are an important part of Indigenous homeland that Native Americans have stewarded since long before the United States was even a country. For years, Tribal Nations led the efforts to protect these sacred landscapes. Now Trump is taking them away. 

Don't let Trump destroy these cultural and environmental treasures. Tell Congress to stop Trump's plan to cut these monuments by 90%. 

Bears Ears and Grand Escalante National Monuments contain irreplaceable cultural resources and provide homes for animals, clean water, and outdoor recreation opportunities. Local communities depend on them for their health, livelihood, and future. 

Trump's plan would put all of that at risk. Opening protected lands to extraction would worsen the climate crisis, threaten sacred Indigenous sites, and leave permanent scars on landscapes that should be protected for generations.

Congress cannot stand by while Trump hands sacred public lands over to mining and drilling companies. Lawmakers have the power to pass permanent protections for Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante.
