Impeach Secretary of Defense Hegseth

A new report just revealed US military commanders ignored warnings that targeting information was severely out of date before the bombing of an Iranian elementary school that killed 150 people – most of whom were young children. 

This was a catastrophic failure of leadership, oversight, and civilian protection. And the person responsible for ensuring U.S. military operations follow the law of armed conflict is Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Tell Congress: Support Rep. Yassamin Ansari’s articles of impeachment against Secretary Hegseth and hold him accountable.

Not only did U.S. commanders ignore warnings about out of date targeting, Secretary Hegseth also made extreme cuts to the Civilian Protection Center of Excellence. These cuts stopped work on compiling lists of sites protected from US military strikes like hospitals, schools, and places of worship. 

That means the systems meant to stop attacks like this were weakened under Hegseth's watch. When military leaders use outdated targeting information and civilian protection safeguards have been gutted, the consequences are measured in dead children and grieving families.

This attack has been called one of the worst massacres in recent U.S. military history and human rights groups have called for it to be investigated as a war crime. Congress cannot look away. 

Secretary Hegseth has failed. That’s why Rep. Yassamin Ansari (D-Ariz.) introduced articles of impeachment. Now Congress must support them.
