The Trump administration is cutting legal aid funding to take lawyers away from 20,000 children headed to immigration court. Many of these kids came to this country fleeing human trafficking, persecution, abuse, or abandonment. We can't let Trump put them in danger again by taking away their access to legal advice. Tell Congress to restore their legal aid funding and protect these children from further harm. The administration is ending legal aid after immigration attorneys refused to violate their child clients' rights by handing over confidential information to the government, including medical records. Due process is one of our country's foundational rights. We can't expect children to successfully represent themselves in immigration court alone. In fact, children who have to represent themselves win the right to stay in the United States just 10% of the time. The Trump administration's plan to end legal aid for immigrant kids will just speed up their mass deportation agenda. Congress needs to act fast – legal aid funding will run out on July 31st. Send a message today and tell them to ensure children don’t end up in immigration court alone. The message to Congress reads: "Children should never be required to represent themselves in court alone. Restore legal aid funding for kids navigating immigration court, protect attorney-client confidentiality, and ensure immigrant children have the legal support they need to defend their rights."
