Billionaires and outside groups are pouring massive sums of untraceable cash into elections, drowning out grassroots voices and tipping the scales before voters even get a fair chance to decide. These shadowy donations erode trust, distort priorities, and leave everyday people wondering whose interests are really being served. On April 8, the Democratic National Committee finally acknowledged the problem, passing a resolution condemning the influence of dark money in elections. But they stopped short of taking the one step that actually matters: banning it in Democratic primaries. That’s a glaring failure of leadership at a moment when accountability is urgently needed. Senator Bernie Sanders is leading the fight to urge the DNC to take real action to eliminate dark money from Democratic primaries altogether. "Billionaire-funded super PACs—AIPAC, AI, crypto, and others—are spending hundreds of millions to defeat any candidate who crosses them,” Sanders said following the vote. "They should be banned from Democratic primaries. Period." Groups like AIPAC and other well-funded organizations are already spending heavily in primaries, often without full transparency. That means voters are being bombarded with messaging funded by donors they’ll never see—pushing candidates who may not reflect the will of the people. The DNC has the power to act. It can ban dark money from Democratic primaries and ensure that candidates compete based on ideas, integrity, and public support—not hidden wealth. Tell the Democratic National Committee: Ban dark money from Democratic primaries. Restore trust, protect our elections, and put power back where it belongs—with the people.
